"God of song" (first) in Hong Kong ------- Sam Hui

Sam Hui (1948.9.6 -), is the first singer who is regarded as "god of song" in Hong 

Kong. Also he is considered that he is "Hong Kong pop music father". Sam hui is the 

fathers of modern Cantonese pop songs. He created the Hong Kong oral deductive 

method which turned on a new epoch in Hong Kong local songs. It also played a 

decisive role on the implementation and development of Cantonese song. And at the 

same time Sam is also the the pioneer of writing and singing songs by himself. In 

1974 the “Album Games Gamblers Play” which was launched by Sam opened the 

prologue of Hong Kong's contemporary pop music scene. In 1976, his most famous 

album “the private eyes” meant the beginning of Cantonese pop music market . Sam 

hui is one of the most important man to develop the modern Hong Kong pop songs 

market. He and his brother Michael Hui、Stanley Hui、Ricky Hui are called the “four 

celebrity of Hui".
